On location, paint out, at Lake Dorothy, Mooroopna, Victoria in 2011.
My art student was a 'country girl', like me. She loved nature and travels, and it was great fun painting out on location together. Thanks Reg for preparing the thermos for us. These are precious memories. Choosing a Microphone for Vlogging a Travel Holiday.I prefer a Sennheiser head-piece microphone as I don't mind it being on view as I talk. I think those seeking a more glamorous image will always choose an unobtrusive mic, and they would be best advised for one of those. I prefer the mic input to only cover one ear as I prefer to hear the natural sound of my voice as I speak. I can also use this head-peace for listening back in private. Make certain it is a noise-canceling mic that only picks up close range noise. The rest is really up to your budget. The best I have used cost over $500. It was wirelessly operated with a long-range away from the computer. The next, with a shorter range, was about $250. My current model isn't wireless. It retails for under $50. I got mine on eBay for $27. it does a good job, not to the standard of my former much used and loved wireless head-piece mics. Anything by Sennheiser is good in my opinion. I don't recommend the varieties of other brands I have tried. Why have I gone through so many mics? Heavy usage. I was a travel writer in conjunction with my main creative career for decades, did the grey nomad self-funded tour much as you are planning now. :-) Highly recommend it. :-) Once settled, and creating video tutorials, cats joined our family. Microphones, especially if they have that soft fluffy bit on the end, are appealing cat toys, and also rarely survive being dropped in your coffee after staying up between 1 am and 6 am to catch the best internet strength time to edit videos online. It is usual to start buying microphones in the budget end of the range and work up. I did the opposite due to discovering microphones are sensitive bits of equipment and don't last if roughly treated. If you have a Mac computer, don't forget, if you don't need the noise-canceling aspect, some will record well using the inbuilt recorder. Both of my two iMacs record great sound quality if I am in a background noise-free room.
