Reg and I are in the Gippsland Lakes district. Bird life has been prolific. I always enjoying seeing the black swans. Last night I heard an owl in the tree near our caravan.
The Gippsland Lakes Coastal Reserve is the inland area that runs parallel for almost 18,000 hectares along the 90 mile beach on the south Gippsland coastline. The area we are camped in is the Western section between Seaspray and Golden Beach.
There is a range of camping and caravan facilities in the area ranging from the coastal reserve, paid caravan park at Seaspray though to the free unpowered campsites, throughout the reserve all the way down to Golden Beach. Dogs are allowed in some areas of the bark on a leash most times of year.
Fishing is great, all year round. The water is beginning to get too cold at this time of year to catch flathead.
Sand crabs are plentiful.
