Snow, Hail, Flood, in the centre of Australia in June, when all the tourists are visiting. I'm glad I didn't make the trip this year.
If it's flooded, don't try driving through it folks. You would not drive into fire, so please don't drive into water.
Flash floods can rise in seconds. Forget the travel plans and go back to higher ground. If you travel the outback, even on the good roads, you take provisions for a fortnight (especially two weeks fresh water supply) and adapt to the weather conditions.
ABC NEWS: Alice Springs cleans up after ice storm.
These photos are relatively tame ones, taken well after tho rain has ceased and flood risk has dissipated. I don't hang around in a flash flood to take photos. To see the after the hail storm photos check the ABC link above.
An ice covered river on the road at Alice Springs, Central Australia where the rivers are usually dry. Fun for those locals too young to have seen sights like this before that might be common in other places. Check out this Facebook link for the video image.
