Will you start a sketch or visual diary with me?
Would it sound crazy claim that drawing was never one of my great skills, while sharing this image? The thing is, I allowed two weeks to complete a work such as this. I'm a painter rather than a sketcher. I'm not a quick sketch artist.
So returning to using a visual diary feels foreign. But, I'm going to do that—starting now. Will you join me?
A visual diary.
Keeping a visual diary helps you resolve and develop your ideas and can act as a memory bridge. Drawing is both visual and idea orientated. You need both. I've always thought ideas out best with a pencil and paper in my hand. I explain things best with diagrams and words.
Experiment and try a variety of mediums, have fun with this. I've been putting together my sketching kit over the past month. Tonight I searched out sketchbooks. Like Goldilocks, I tried each of them.
With the above diary, I didn't like that they don't deliver to Australia, and that there were only a few left in stock, but my posting it here gives you an idea of what I chose from what I already had in my art shelves. You can look around in the Amazon site, or elsewhere, to find a visual diary to suit your personal needs.
I earn a small commission, a few cents in the dollar, if you order via these affiliate links. Those commissions are appreciated as they help pay for this website.
I hope that you will give using a visual diary a try along with me.
I'm sharing a well-developed drawing here. I'll share some of my scribble sketches as the course progresses.
