GENOA REST AREA, is our first overnight camp site stop after leaving NSW, heading into Victoria, touring on Highway 1, Princess Highway.
When we only want an overnight stop, we choose to stay at free campsites that are drive though and do not require backing the caravan in and disconnecting the car. I find that procedure, that is usually required at many caravan parks, a nuisance and frankly I prefer camping in the bush to staying in a caravan park. The view of natural bushland is why I travel.
Genoa Rest Area is one kilometre north of Genoa, before the bridge. There are public toilets including disabled facilities, shade trees, picnic and BBQ facilities and space for tents, caravans and big rigs, dogs allowed.
