When I travel I meet a lot of fellow gray nomads who travel with the laptop computer but many still have very little idea how to use it aside from sending an email to the family and downloading the travel photographs. I have shown a few how to create a travel blog. It can be a lot of fun, a place where your friends and family can follow your travels and for me, it eliminates the bulk of a photo album and eliminates the risk of loosing photo files in disks or in your computer.
Setting up a Travel Blog.
I personally recommend Weebly.com to get started blogging, they have a free basic service you can upgrade to professional level if you ever wish to and if you can click, drag an item and drop it where you want it you can create a beautiful looking blog within Weebly, no need to learn anymore than that unless you want to be a professional blogger.
One of the mysteries to the first time computer user, as many senior travelers are, is the abbreviations people use.
You do not have to use abbreviation but it comes in handy to understand some of them when others use the terms.
I tend to use - overuse, lol = Laugh Out Loud.
Here are a few explained and you can always put others into Google search to find their meanings..
You’ll see a lot of abbreviations on the boards that can be confusing. Here are some of the most common:
((( )))- hugs
J/K- just kidding
IOW- in other words
IMHO- in my humble opinion
BBL- be back later
BTW- by the way
LOL- laugh out loud
DH- dear husband
OMG- oh my goodness
SIL – son in law
TIA- thanks in advance
WDYT- what do you think
