Reg and I had another enjoyable three-day trip from Mooroopna, near Shepparton in northern Victoria, to visit family in the south eastern suburbs of Melbourne. We choose the country route, the Goulburn Valley highway cutting across country from Mooroopna along the smaller roads that travel close to the river through natural eucalyptus scrub, bypassing Shepparton and then we follow the Goulburn River to the town of Yea, stopping frequently for walks.
We stopped for a break from driving at Trawool, which is in between Yea and Nagambie. We walked along the bank of the Goulburn River. Look at RegJ, in these photos. If you have seen his other recent photos you can tell from these that he is improving in health, he is walking straighter and look, 'no walking stick’ .
After our break from driving at Trawool, we continued on, bypassing the city of Melbourne by travelling through Kinglake West, it is a pretty route and I prefer the interest of scenery to cities, freeways and heavy traffic. It takes us four hours with a walk stop to drive from Mooroopna to where my youngest daughter Carla and her family live.
It was a very enjoyable trip.
While the trip could be completed in one day, I prefer to break it up into a two day drive, allowing for walks and a sleep over. On the return trip home we stopped at Yea. I have taken photos of Yea and will share them here, in my next blog.
