An advance reading copy, advance review copy, advance reader's edition, advance copy, or a reader's edition is a free copy of a new book given by a publisher to booksellers, librarians, journalists, celebrities, or others, or as a contest or school prize, before the book is printed for mass distribution.

We give eBooks not print books.

An advanced reader copy (ARC) is a pre-published, almost-complete version of a new book that is circulated to people who read it before print. These advanced copies allow them to read the book before its publication date so their reviews can coincide with the book's debut.
When you request an ARC, it is assumed you do so to assist an author launch a new book and will follow through and leave a review before or as soon as the book is launched.

You may receive this ARC copy before the final proofread and cover design. final proofread or final cover design. However, most of the finished content is in place. Should you notice any typos or errors, please inform the author, so it may be corrected prior to publishing.

ARCs are sent to reviewers who have consistently written valuable, fair reviews in the genre or for the author you request to receive the ARC from.  So you need to have a history of reviews that a Rural-Lit publisher can look at.

ARCs are ,as I've already said, not the end version of the book, although they're close. Again, if you find typos, you are doing a valuable service to the author and future readers to allow the author to know, so they correct these. Often the author has paid a substantial amount of money ho professional editors and for cover art and formatting programs and won't be in a position to pay for your help.  Author's repay help they receive by paying it forward, sharing success tips to between authors as earning a living with one book, even one book a year, is rarely possible these days. Also, as you are asked to review ARC books, it would be unethical, and against Amazon's terms of service, to pay for a review.

Lastly, you'll need to word a review in a manner that is constructive for the writer, but provide honest feedback for readers. A review can be as short as you choose.
