On the 10 th June 1838, a brutal massacre of a family of 28 old men, women, children and babies of the Wirrayaraay and Gamilaroi peoples took place at Myall Creek.

In a following court case, seven stock-men were hung for participating in the brutal massacre. Descendants of Aboriginal people who survived the massacre form part of the Myall Creek Memorial Committee, which co-manages the Myall Creek Memorial site.

Cottage At Castlemaine - Blue Earth - Unison - Sennelier Soft Pastels by Ryn Shell

Colour is Interconnected with all other Senses.

One of my greatest joys was having blind children visit my Buninyong Gallery. They came so that I could give them paintings to feel and for the chat I'd give on sharing how they might understand colour.
Lemon colour is fresh like the smell of lemons. Lime is a vibrant, bright green, smell the lime leaves and imagine the colour lime. Violet is soothing and restful—smell the lavender and imagine violet. Emotions smell and colour all interconnected. Red, the healing colour, the colour of oxygenated healthy blood, feel the warmth of a fire and think of flickering interactions of red, orange, yellow, with white-hot core, white also for purity, swell the delicate fragrance of a white rose, and grief—smell the lily. The blue-greys in the smoke, as the heat cools—move from sunshine into shadow and imagine the colours changing from the hot colours to the cooler blues, blue-green and blue-violet. Move deeper into the shade, fool yourself becoming cooler, and imagine those cool colours becoming darker.
I could get carried away talking about colour to people who also love the subject. I loved reaching to responsive students.
