The painting was completed in one setting, impressionist style, as a teaching demonstration, using Maimari Puro oils on 8" x 10" canvas panel board and only three tubes of colour. I have not signed this work as yet, as I like to spend some time looking at it before the final brush strokes go in.
I am an author as well as a painter. You can find my stories of crime, betrayal, resilience, love and Australia at Ryn Shell Have a lovely end of the week everyone. Here in Victoria, Australia, we are bracing for a 42 Celsius-degrees (107.6 Fahrenheit) extreme fire risk day tomorrow while the Northern Hemisphere rattles and shivers. We all need to give pets, local wildlife, and our plants some extra care during these extremes. I even thought of the house plants and gave them a good soak. That's what I've been doing today, making preparations so that tomorrow I can paint all day in front of the air conditioner and video camera. ![]() How is your creative weekend going? Please share, even if it's creating a comfortable corner to relax. For me, this image shows day two of working on the oil painting of the summer roses I saved from yesterday's scorching heat by picking them to come inside at dawn. Another long stretch of painting is required to complete this artwork. I'll create a drawing the rose lesson to insert within the completed 1 -2 hour (condensed from actual painting time) video demonstration tutorial. Chicago Peace and Seduction Rose Oil Painting by Ryn Shell. ![]() Tabby is supervising the rose painting. Its success is in her capable paws. The roses are the Chicago Peace rose and the Seduction rose. Both favourites. This is the part I love best. Seeing how the artwork will look as decor or apparel, where someone else does all the work, I just okay the design. I always want to order my rose art as cushions, and have to control the urge, as I'm still buying art studio and video supplies. These roses have been the perfect muse, they speak to me. :-) I'm 'on track' with my creative goals again, thanks to my rose muse and encouragement from my online studio friends here. Chicago Peace RoseHybrid Tea. The Peace rose would possibly be the most famous rose partially due to its beauty and the timing of its release at the end of World War II (1945). It is a large rose with wavy petals and blend of pastel pink and yellow. This rose has thrown many colour variations called ‘sports’ – that is, identical in every way to the parent plant, except for colour. One of these sports was discovered in Chicago, named ‘Chicago Peace’ and introduced to the market 50 years ago (1962) by Stanley Johnston. This is another of my favourite roses, and I've grown and painted this rose since its first release in Australia. Seduction RoseSeduction Floribunda Rose Pink and cream Blend, which I find perfect to include in flower paintings. The next goal is to reach my first 10,000 YouTube views so that YouTube will allow me to link to my website at the end of my Youtube videos—this, in turn, will assist me, and other authors whose books get a mention in blog posts within my website. so PLEASE share my YouTube video link. Thank you. :-) Meet the studio assistants. The cats watched me work. They were great company. I store the wet palette and painting away from the cats at the end of the painting session. I'm sure they were thinking, "Let us try that."
