Start: Heatherlie Quarry Carpark

Time: Approx. 1 hr return
Distance: 2.4 km return

Grade: Easy (elevation: 40m)

Did you notice— Grade: Easy?
It was a treat finding this place. The gentle uphill stroll was enough exercise for the day following the Boronia Peak walk.
These quarries are at the base of the Mt Difficult Range.
I didn’t tackle a climb to see the quarries rock wall face.
Does that mean I am finally maturing and acting my age?
No. It just means I needed an easier day.

Many stately Victorian buildings have been built with Heatherlie sandstone. I adored seeing the abandoned Heatherlie Quarry workers’ huts made of the sandstone and local timbers.
