Wallaby Joey features a wildlife of an Australian artwork by Ryn Shell painted in acrylic paint on canvas. My grateful thanks to photographer Philip Woodhouse for allowing me to use one of his nature photographs as the reference for this artwork.
I've actually been afraid to paint this Joey. The reason is, Philip Woodhouse is the brilliant nature photographer who gave me permission to paint some of his superb wallaby images. What was I thinking to attempt to paint what was already perfect? Anyhow, I'm working on my short series of wallaby paintings at the moment. My joey in pouch is starting to come alive on the canvas for me. ![]()
Red-necked Wallaby joeys spend about 9 months in the the pouch.
