Eti Bay is a lovely secluded beach south of Innisfail. Reg and I went to look at it today.
The area was a no dogs allowed zone so I got out of the car and took a few brief photos then left. The sand was clean there as safe, swim barriers, in the ocean (dangers are crocodiles and stingers) and there appeared to be, rock fishing, beyond, the swimming, beach. I think Flying Fish Point suits Reg, Indigo and my needs better but if you were traveling light and without a dog, perhaps with children who want to play safely in the surf and on a clean beach, this might be a place you would enjoy. There is a caravan park at Eti Bay and a pretty drive through a rain forest around the hills to enter the bay car park. The sign to go no further if you have a dog, is positioned where you can not possibly turn safely, so I ignored it and drove on into the Eti Bay car park where I could turn a small truck, safely. I am disappointed when beautiful areas of the country are out of bounds even with your dog kept within the car. Because of the narrow winding road and poor turning area in the car park, I would not have wanted to visit the area, with a large caravan in tow.
