I've been watching the ice dancing in the Winter Olympics, along with the opening and closing ceremonies. Hasn't it been an inspirational experience watching athletic artists of all nations compete and performing together, showing how much we have in common? Art, sport, and trade are true equalizers, where an opportunity to compete exists.
I'm entering a phase where I hope to give anyone with the desire to learn art, who have access to the internet, an opportunity to learn the fine artist skill of painting from life.
If you can't afford art supplies, remember that my childhood drawing materials were charcoal, made by burning sticks. My first sculpture medium was mud. I worked from the age of eight to pay for the best art training available. It was a different era, but a passion to create is within everyone, at any age or stage of life, and creativity may be retained for longer than more strenuous activities.
While I come from a talented family, none of us were born talented. We did have the passion to learn and achieve. If you want to learn to paint what you can see, I can coach you to achieve that, even if you can't draw a stick figure now. You don't need to be talented to start, you only need the desire. It is your tutor who needs the talent at the beginning of your art journey.
Throughout February I set up my Patron's Vlog (video blog) that you can access for an affordable $5. a month. It's there that I'll put a new video art demonstration tutorial and tuition notes, and images, each week, and follow up and respond to my Patron's comments. Use it as your base to ask creative life (writing as well as drawing and painting) questions, or to request tutorials.
I'm ready to teach. Remembering that I was keen to receive quality, adult standard art tuition when I was a child, I now plan to keep my Patron's Reward vlog affordable.
"Do you have the desire to learn fine art?" Remember: "You do not need to be talented to begin!"
"Are you ready to come on an exciting journey with me?"
I should have enough years in me left to get the best of all that I've learned in creative arts onto video tutorials and into print.
I also welcome patrons who wish to support my efforts to make this fine art training available at an affordable price to others.
