We are staying at the Maleny Showgrounds where the powered sites ate only $17. a night, (2010) compare that to the fees down on the coast below us where they are $37, to $55. a night for a powered caravan site for 2 adults, and most do not allow dogs. No thanks’ those fees are a bit rich if you are traveling for half the year and have another home to pay some fees for upkeep on as well like most of the gray nomad generation have. Reg has settled in here and is enjoying the being here and Indigo, our poodle of course is adoring the oval and her ball play.
Yes, showgrounds are an attractive middle of the road alternative to bush camping or caravan parks. Each has its own advantages. The showers here are good, instant gas hot water service. We have a tap beside our caravan for drinking water. Nothing else we cold need.
We intend to travel to stay here in Maleny for another couple of nights, go to the Maleny Market tomorrow and then we plan to head off to another mountain township and stay at their showgrounds to explore the area so a pleasant change from the seaside and beautiful mountain views, which will feature in my next blog post, these photos are of the Malany showgrounds above and Maleny below.
For an additional, $12. a day there is a full gymnasium here a the Maleny showgrounds, it comes complete with weights, treadmills, exercise bikes, elliptical as I assume it is catering for all the sporting clubs that are using the two multipurpose ovals here.
I don't need a gym when there is an oval right outside my caravan. Blog 2 run 400 meters, insert one scenic drive, blog another two, run another 400 meters. :-).
This is one way to stay a strong senior and enjoy life.
